Fuxi is the cultural ancestor of the ancient Chinese Xia ethnic group, the earliest king recorded in ancient Chinese books, and one of the pioneers of Chinese medicine, ranking first among the three emperors. Many inventions and creations in ancient Chinese culture are mostly related to Fuxi. It is said that the Fuxi family saw the phoenix perched on wutong tree, took its wood and carved it, so they had an ancient zither, which is called Fuxi's first ancient zither. There are records in both "Qin Shu" and "Flute Fu" that "Fu Xi cut Tong into a qin" and "Xi Xi used to play a qin".
Fu Xi, the founder of the Chinese people
It is said that in the remote ancient times, Fuxi patrolled to the Tung Forest in the West Mountain, and saw Xiangyun holding two beautiful big birds to land on the wutong (not paulownia). Fuxi saw this strange scene and summoned the wood god to ask the truth. The wood god said: There are thousands of trees on the ground. Only wutong (not paulownia) can attract phoenix. Using this divine wood as a musical instrument will endure for thousands of years without decline. Fuxi then ordered the wutong tree to be cut down and returned. Cut this tree into three sections and use your hand to tap on its upper section. The sound is too clear, while tapping on the lower section is too voiced. When tapping on its middle section, the sound is both clear and voiced. Fu Xi then carved it into a qin.
According to "Qin Cao", Fu Xi created the qin to "counter his naivety". These philosophers use the sound of qin to call people's imprisoned souls to nature, allowing their emotions to be naturally expressed, just like the flowers in spring, the winds in summer, the rain in autumn, and the snow in winter.

The Fuxi style guqin has a strong and thick shape, with a slightly rounded head, a half moon shaped neck, and a double curved waist. The sound is broad and beautiful, making it easy to play. Contemporary people also generally recognize the Fuxi style guqin.
